The Sensors Division at Systems Technology Research (STR) is dedicated to pioneering technology advancements in sophisticated sensor systems and platforms, tailored to meet national security needs. Our focus encompasses a wide array of domains including airborne, spaceborne, and surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. Our initiatives traverse diverse technical fields, including RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, systems analysis, and real-time embedded processor implementation.
The Algorithms, Processing, and Experimentation (APEX) Group is at the forefront of RF/radar mode development, specializing in the creation of advanced signal processing chains and associated algorithm research. We strive to evolve these technologies for successful implementation and integration within RF-based systems, with a tailored approach to meet the specific needs of Defense entities such as the Air Force, Space Force, Navy, and DARPA.
Your Role:
As a Principal Signal Processing Researcher, you will spearhead technical teams focused on developing, testing, integrating, and demonstrating cutting-edge signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms aimed at advanced electronic warfare and sensor applications.
The ideal candidate will have proven leadership abilities and extensive expertise in areas such as optimization, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, machine learning, algorithm development, integration, test & evaluation, modeling & simulation, systems engineering, radar systems, or communications systems. This role demands collaboration within and leadership of multidisciplinary teams to design, analyze, integrate, and showcase signal processing algorithms for complex systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and develop electronic warfare and radar system solutions, along with signal processing and machine learning algorithms to address remote sensing challenges.
- Provide technical leadership to small, multidisciplinary teams that create, implement, test, and integrate innovative sensing, electronic warfare, and signal processing systems.
- Oversee modeling and simulation activities for advanced RF systems to support algorithm development, testing, and integration.
- Plan and facilitate algorithm testing and evaluation, including performance assessments in laboratory and field settings.
- Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, and both prime and subcontractors.
