About the job

About the Team:

The Sensors Division at Systems Technology Research (STR) is at the forefront of technology development for cutting-edge sensor systems and platforms that meet national security demands. Our focus encompasses a wide range of advanced technologies, including airborne, spaceborne, and surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensing. Our initiatives involve multiple technical domains ranging from RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, and signal processing algorithms to machine learning, systems analysis, and real-time embedded processor implementations.

The Algorithms, Processing, and Experimentation (APEX) Group is dedicated to the advancement of RF/radar modes, applications, and skills, with a special emphasis on sophisticated signal processing chains and algorithmic research. We aim to enhance these technologies for practical integration and utility within RF-based systems, specifically catering to the stringent requirements of Defense and Intelligence Community clients, including the Air Force, Space Force, Navy, DARPA, and others.

About the Role:

In the capacity of Principal Signal Processing Researcher, you will spearhead technical teams tasked with the development, testing, integration, and demonstration of innovative signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms tailored for advanced electronic warfare and sensor applications.

Successful candidates will exhibit proven leadership skills and extensive expertise in multiple areas, including optimization, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, machine learning, algorithm development and integration, testing and evaluation, modeling and simulation, systems engineering, radar systems, or communications systems. This role necessitates collaboration within and leadership over multidisciplinary teams engaged in the design, analysis, integration, and demonstration of signal processing algorithms for intricate systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop concepts and solutions for electronic warfare and radar systems, including signal processing and machine learning algorithms to tackle remote sensing challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership to small, multidisciplinary teams involved in developing, implementing, testing, and integrating novel sensing, electronic warfare, and signal processing systems.
  • Oversee modeling and simulation activities for advanced RF systems to support algorithm development, testing, and integration efforts.
  • Plan and facilitate algorithm testing and evaluation activities, assessing performance in both laboratory and field environments.
  • Effectively communicate with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, prime contractors, and subcontractors.
