Your ResponsibilitiesEnsure that systems developed to support new initiatives are robustly designed and scalable. Evaluate existing systems and infrastructure, identifying opportunities to enhance architecture, minimize redundancy, and improve system performance and reliability. Recognize recurring patterns that lead to incidents and overhead, devising plans to address these issues. Lead initiatives to boost the reliability and performance of our systems. Enhance development practices, including design reviews, testing, deployment, and incident management. Conduct architectural deep-dives and mentor key members across all service teams. As a senior member of the engineering team, play a critical role in fostering a high-performance culture within the Retail organization. Collaborate with the wider team to achieve organizational objectives, even when it involves tasks outside your immediate role.

As a Principal Software Developer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the design and architecture of essential system components for the renowned Lightspeed Retail product, utilized by thousands of merchants globally. You will directly contribute to the development of innovative solutions that cater to customer needs, enhancing the engineering expertise across the organization. This includes offering technical guidance, championing best practices, mentoring fellow engineers, and empowering teams to work towards a sustainable architecture.

This position requires you to be located in Canada or the USA and available to work within EST/EDT hours. We offer flexibility with fully remote, hybrid, or fully office-based work arrangements (in cities with local offices).
