Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience). A minimum of 15 years of experience in embedded software development, product development, and integration. At least 10 years of experience in software project management and cross-functional collaboration. Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, JavaScript, HTML, and GoLang. A proven track record of delivering high-quality software products within complex system environments. Strong expertise in software integration, validation, and troubleshooting across hardware and software interfaces. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams in systems engineering, hardware, and network connectivity. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a focus on mentoring, managing, and developing technical talents, including onboarding of new staff. In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycles, unit testing frameworks, and technical documentation creation. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage challenges, deviations, and process enhancements efficiently. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across global teams (Engineering, Product Management, international offices) and customer-facing engagements. Previous management experience is highly desirable; experience in the aerospace or in-flight entertainment (IFE) industry is a plus.

About the job

As the Principal Software Engineer for Connectivity at Rave Aerospace, you will spearhead the development of our innovative AeroConnect Product. This pivotal role involves leading a talented team of engineers dedicated to software development and testing activities. You will collaborate closely with colleagues from our Gilching, Germany office, as well as the Engineering team in Brea and Product Management, ensuring that all efforts align with our strategic vision, business objectives, and product deployment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the software development process for Connectivity products ready for field deployment.
  • Oversee the creation of software documentation to ensure clarity and compliance.
  • Lead unit testing efforts to guarantee product quality.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new team members to establish a robust Connectivity Technical Team in the Brea office.
  • Foster key relationships within the organization, working closely with the Gilching office, Engineering Leadership, and Product Management.
  • Proactively monitor and address issues or deviations from commitments, escalating as necessary.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and propose effective solutions.
  • Support customer interactions, sales initiatives, and program office collaborations as needed.
  • Guide and mentor assigned resources to enhance team performance, while assisting the Connectivity Engineering Manager in personnel development.
