Join Our Team as a Programme Assistant/Driver!

The Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is excited to announce opportunities for two permanent part-time contracts (23.5 hours each) in Limerick. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

As a Programme Assistant/Driver, your primary responsibility will be the safe transportation of our members to and from the Community Centre. You will also play a crucial role in facilitating personal and activation programmes for our members, helping them engage fully with their community. Close collaboration with Community Centre staff, members, and relevant agencies will be essential for the success of this position.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of programme activities based on service user preferences, including daily programme delivery and report writing on designs.
  • Liaise with local resources, such as colleges, to introduce innovative programmes.
  • Assist the Service Coordinator in developing and executing fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.
  • Encourage active participation from members in developmental and personal programmes.
  • Support participants during holidays, outings, and social events as directed by the Service Coordinator.
  • Assist with patient handling and personal care as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards in all activities.
  • Comply with IWA's safety policies and procedures.
  • Safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm, following IWA’s safeguarding protocols.
  • Utilize clamping, hoisting, and lifting equipment as necessary.
  • Report any hazards or incidents to the Service Coordinator.
  • Transport participants to and from the Centre and related community activities as directed.
  • Maintain vehicle safety and cleanliness, ensuring all vehicles are in roadworthy condition.
