Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with both web-based and desktop software systems. Strong ability to manage multiple projects while meeting strict deadlines. Quick learner with problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of completing tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong presentation abilities. Experience in the pipeline, midstream, or oil and gas sectors is advantageous.

About the job

The Project Controls Specialist plays a crucial role in providing technical support to the Engineering Department for various development projects, directly reporting to the VP of Engineering. The core responsibilities encompass financial forecasting, budget management, project reporting, and the creation of impactful presentations. This position is based in Houston, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project management and accounting teams on cost estimation, budgeting, reporting, and forecasting.
  • Generate comprehensive monthly progress reports for senior management review.
  • Develop technical presentations for engineering projects and facilitate monthly meetings.
  • Assist project managers in preparing detailed reports and project schedules.
  • Analyze historical project costs and metrics to identify trends and statistical insights.
  • Maintain and update engineering templates and tools for efficiency.
  • Support the management of engineering and construction documentation.
  • Regularly update and manage safety databases and associated reporting metrics.
  • Assist in pipeline hydraulic analysis, data management, and reporting processes.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the Engineering Technical Standards library.
  • Draft and uphold document control procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and flag documents with recurring obligations, expiration dates, and execution requirements, communicating critical deliverables to internal teams.
  • Manage integrations with other systems, including document links, feeds, DocuSign, and various workflow platforms.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide support to project teams, including training on system usage for both desktop and mobile interfaces, along with creating user-friendly instructions.
  • Conduct regular audits of files to ensure adherence to appropriate retention standards.
