The Purchaser Planner I role is essential to our Optics Business Unit, playing a critical part in planning, forecasting, and inventory management. This position will involve scheduling and managing workloads, as well as overseeing the purchasing of consumables and project work aimed at cost reduction and process improvement. You will also conduct ongoing vendor evaluations in compliance with ISO 9001 standards. This position operates under general supervision and may require occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Daily purchasing activities, including expediting and data management.

• Daily planning tasks such as scheduling and date management.

• Calculating product availability and lead times.

• Initiating and participating in purchasing improvement and cost-saving initiatives.

• Generating special and periodic reports as needed.

• Managing inventory control and planning (including safety stock and order sizes).

• Reviewing documentation and data as necessary.

• Monitoring company back orders to ensure timely fulfillment.

All staff members are expected to meet company standards for quality and quantity of work, adhering to all policies and procedures. Physical activities may include standing or sitting for prolonged periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds. A willingness to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment is required.
