Role overview
This remote QA Automation Engineer role focuses on Android and supports Point Wild’s global security apps, including HotspotShield, Betternet, and UltraAV. The position centers on building and scaling test automation to ensure product quality and reliability. The team operates in an agile environment and values engineers who take ownership and deliver results as the company expands.
What you will do
- Develop and extend Android automation frameworks using Espresso and Kakao-Cup for a suite of security applications.
- Design advanced test strategies for VPN-related scenarios, covering network-dependent operations and fluctuating connection states.
- Collaborate with developers and QA peers to diagnose issues and write clear, detailed bug reports.
- Maintain QA best practices and contribute to defining the overall QA strategy.
- Research and evaluate new testing tools or methodologies to improve the QA process.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience automating UI tests for Android apps built with Kotlin.
- Strong, hands-on skills with Espresso and Kakao-Cup, including testing Jetpack Compose and XML-based interfaces.
- Experience with Robolectric and Mockito for test infrastructure and mocking dependencies.
- Comfort working with CI pipelines in CircleCI, and Bash/sh scripting for automation and results handling.
- Background in sharding and parallelizing tests using the Android Testing Support Library.
