Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is actively seeking a Quality Assurance Platform Engineer (DevOps) to enhance our initiatives for the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health. This is a full-time position available both onsite at our Bethesda, MD office and remotely.

As a key component of the NLM, NCBI plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific research and public health by providing free access to a wealth of biomedical literature and genomic data online, ranking among the 400 most-visited websites globally. Our team is composed of diverse and highly skilled professionals dedicated to delivering essential tools and services for researchers, healthcare providers, educators, students, and the public. Notably, NCBI is the creator of PubMed, which indexes over 29 million biomedical research abstracts, often linking to full-text publications and supporting data.

Duties & Responsibilities

This role presents an exciting opportunity to tackle complex challenges within NCBI's Platforms team, which operates in a dynamic, scientific, and results-driven environment.

The Platforms team:

  • Designs and continuously enhances DevSecOps, DataOps, and Observability platforms.
  • Develops and maintains shared tools and libraries.
  • Investigates and evaluates new technologies and methodologies.
  • Assists NCBI developers in adopting platforms, tools, architectural patterns, and best practices.
  • Ensures adherence to federal application security regulations and standards by implementing automated solutions and compliance pipelines.
  • Embraces Agile development practices and fosters continuous improvement.
