We are looking for an HVAC Control Systems Technician to become a valuable member of our federal team at the National Defense University in Washington D.C.. This is a remote position based in the Washington, DC area, with in-person office visits required at least once a week for mail and administrative duties. The Controller will ensure financial accuracy, maintain compliance, and deliver insights to support the company's growth. Key Responsibilities Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and monthly close activities. Prepare and review profit and loss statements and balance sheets to ensure accuracy. Manage both cash-based and accrual accounting methods. Coordinate annual audits and uphold GAAP compliance. Oversee year-end tax filings and related documentation. Maintain detailed records, tracking profits at company, project, and resource levels. Supervise the generation of approximately 300 invoices per month. Handle treasury functions, including banking, lines of credit, and credit card programs. Develop and update cash flow and accrual projections for executive leadership. Analyze financial data, identify trends, and highlight potential risks. Support multiple teams, projects, and clients concurrently. Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Requirements Active CPA certification. Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience. Previous experience serving as a Controller. Background in service industries (legal, IT, or government contracting preferred). Extensive experience with QuickBooks and Unanet. Proven ability to support audits and maintain GAAP compliance. Hands-on experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable. Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-project financial operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Additional Requirements Residency in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area is required. Ability to report to the Washington, DC office at least once per week for mail and administrative tasks.
