About the job

At Phasecraft, we are pioneering the field of quantum algorithms, laying the groundwork for transformative quantum computing applications that address real-world challenges. Founded in 2019 by Toby Cubitt, Ashley Montanaro, and John Morton, our headquarters are in London and Bristol, UK, and we proudly expanded to Washington, DC in 2024, under the leadership of Steve Flammia. With a successful £13m Series A funding round concluded in 2023, led by prominent Silicon Valley deep tech venture capital firm Playground Global, we are poised for significant growth.

Our unique partnerships with industry leaders like Google, IBM, Quantinuum, and QuEra grant us unprecedented access to cutting-edge quantum computers, allowing us to create foundational intellectual property, guide the development of next-generation quantum hardware, and expedite the commercialization of high-value breakthroughs.

We are actively seeking a Quantum Algorithms Scientist to join our innovative team. This role emphasizes the implementation and execution of experiments on advanced quantum computing hardware. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with quantum algorithms on actual quantum hardware, along with a robust theoretical background in quantum algorithms for gate-model quantum computers or adjacent fields such as quantum information theory. This position will involve exploring topics such as algorithm optimization and design, quantum error correction, resource analysis, error mitigation, and hardware benchmarking, contributing to Phasecraft’s mission of developing quantum algorithms for near-term quantum computers. The role encompasses both theoretical research and practical application, leveraging our access to quantum hardware platforms.

This is an exceptional opportunity to engage in groundbreaking quantum research while applying algorithms on real devices, pushing the limits of near-term quantum computing capabilities.
