THE JOB

At VEG, we are not just looking for assistants; we are nurturing the next generation of emergency veterinary professionals. As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you will dive right into the action, supporting your colleagues, comforting pet parents, and gaining invaluable experience in real-time. You will be involved in every aspect of care—from triage to treatment—and embark on a career path that fosters growth and success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide a warm welcome and assist with the triage of incoming patients, guiding them towards necessary care.
  • Support veterinary staff with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians in anesthesia and sedation procedures.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration effectively.
  • Participate in patient care throughout various settings, ensuring seamless transitions from exam rooms to treatment areas.
  • Engage in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
  • Receive training to perform CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer.
  • Advance into more complex responsibilities as you gain experience.
