About the job
We are looking for a talented Structural Engineer specializing in the design of hyperscale and colocation data center facilities to become a part of our expanding Data Center team. The successful candidate will possess exceptional technical skills in large-scale concrete and steel structures, a strong history of delivering swift technology and industrial projects, and a commitment to promoting low-carbon and resilient design methodologies.
This role offers the flexibility of a remote work environment, with the possibility of being based from various locations across the U. S. where AECOM maintains an office.
While primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary for client meetings, significant project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other essential business activities. Such travel will be infrequent and planned in advance.
AECOM stands as a leading force in the global data center consulting sector, boasting strong teams across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this position, you will have the chance to collaborate with our global teams on prominent, fast-paced data center projects for clients worldwide. This is a hands-on, client-facing position with prospects for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out structural design and analysis for various data center buildings, including hyperscale and colocation facilities.
- Create design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and both deep and shallow foundations.
- Ensure design deliverables are in sync with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams to meet project goals and client standards.
- Develop construction documents, specifications, and calculations, ensuring quality, compliance with codes, and technical excellence.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and review authorities to resolve technical inquiries and clarify designs.
- Assist in business development, proposal drafting, and conceptual structural design for new projects.
- Travel as required for project-related activities, such as client meetings and site assessments.
