We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to architect and optimize extensive research and development repositories utilized throughout the design, construction, and validation processes for photonic chip design and tape-out. The role demands innovative engineering solutions to advance our quantum computing capabilities.

About the job

At PsiQuantum, we are on a transformative journey to build the very first practical quantum computers—machines that will unlock unprecedented breakthroughs across various industries. Established in 2016, our primary goal has been to develop and deploy million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.

Quantum computers utilize the principles of quantum mechanics to address problems that are beyond the reach of traditional supercomputers and AI systems. Their potential impacts extend across sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and many foundational industries.

Our architectural strategy is founded on silicon photonics. By capitalizing on advanced semiconductor manufacturing techniques and partnerships with industry leaders like GlobalFoundries, we employ high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecommunications and consumer electronics. Photonics inherently supports scalability: photons are unaffected by heat, resilient against electromagnetic interference, and seamlessly integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic systems.

In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-backed initiatives to develop our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These projects highlight the increasing consensus that quantum computing will shape our strategic and economic future, making this the ideal moment to scale operations.

Additionally, PsiQuantum is committed to creating the algorithms and software necessary to enhance the commercial viability of these systems. Our dedicated application, software, and industry teams collaborate closely with Fortune 500 companies—including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical—to tailor quantum solutions for significant real-world applications.

Quantum computing is not merely an extension of classical computing; it signifies a paradigm shift and a pathway to solving challenges that cannot be addressed through any other means. The potential is immense, and we have a clear roadmap to realize it.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey.
