About the job
About the Team:
The Sensors Division at Systems Technology Research (STR) is dedicated to pioneering technology development for cutting-edge sensor systems and platforms that bolster national security. Our initiatives include advanced airborne, surface, and space-based radar, electronic warfare systems, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing technologies. We engage in full system prototype development, execute experimental campaigns, and explore next-generation technology components. Key technical areas encompass RF analog and digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning techniques, tracking and fusion, autonomous systems, and the implementation of real-time embedded processors.
The Systems Autonomy, Analysis, and Modeling (SAAM) Group within the Sensors Division employs modeling and simulation (M&S) to evaluate system capabilities, develop enabling algorithms, and guide these integrated systems through rigorous testing. Our focus is on the operational capacities and constraints of ground, air, surface, and space sensing platforms, as well as the resource management of these assets to ensure the survivability of U. S. air and space assets. SAAM also capitalizes on the increasing integration of autonomy and Artificial Intelligence in uncrewed systems, facilitating the collection, fusion, and understanding of sensor data across comprehensive systems to guarantee mission success. We are actively developing software and hardware tools, datasets, algorithms, processing chains, and scenarios to support these analyses and inform both prototype demonstrations and operational systems. Our primary clientele includes the Air Force, Navy, and DARPA research programs.
The Role:
The SAAM group is in search of a talented Researcher to join our high-performing teams in conducting large-scale simulations and analyses that inform critical national security decisions. In this role, you will collaborate with scientists and engineers to design mission-relevant scenarios, enhance and adapt complex simulation frameworks, and derive actionable insights from simulation outcomes. This position necessitates a blend of hands-on technical development—coding new capabilities and integrating models—alongside analytical acumen to interpret results and communicate findings to a diverse audience, ranging from program managers to senior leadership.
