Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 4 years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge and skills. A valid motor vehicle check is required. Preferred Qualifications:Experience with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is highly desirable.

AECOM is looking for a talented Roadway Construction Inspector/Engineer to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will play a crucial part in overseeing construction and rehabilitation projects on major highway infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include on-site inspections of roadway construction activities to ensure adherence to contract specifications, state and local transportation regulations, and safety standards. You will closely monitor contractor performance, document daily operations, and collaborate with project management teams to effectively address and resolve any on-site challenges.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting daily inspections of contractor work to guarantee compliance with design plans, specifications, and municipal standards.
  • Preparing comprehensive daily reports documenting construction activities, workforce, equipment usage, and material quantities.
  • Ensuring that appropriate materials, methods, and safety practices are implemented at the job site.
  • Communicating field conditions and potential issues to project management staff in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing traffic management, public safety, and restoration activities.
  • Assisting in the resolution of construction conflicts, utility issues, and sequencing challenges.
  • Participating in project meetings to provide insights on progress, quality, and compliance.
