Initially, your work will encompass a variety of tasks: one week, you may develop an initial prototype; the next, you might enhance a feed ranking algorithm, troubleshoot a slow endpoint, or construct essential infrastructure for the team. As our company scales, you will take ownership of projects aligned with your strengths.This is an on-site position at our NYC office.The ideal candidate will possess a T-shaped skill set: versatile enough to navigate AI, backend, data, and product domains, yet have significant depth in at least one of these areas:AI Product Systems: Experience with diffusion pipelines, batch LLM workflows, vector search, evaluations, structured outputs, and reliability within real product constraints.Recommendation Systems and Personalization: Knowledge of retrieval and ranking systems, embedding-based search, learned rankers, user behavior sequence modeling, and online experimentation.Core Product Infrastructure: Expertise in databases and query optimization, data warehousing, infrastructure as code, deployment, and observability, with insights into typical latency, reliability, and cost issues.As a Founding Engineer, your responsibilities will include:Rapidly developing end-to-end prototypes.Delving deep into optimizations: refining the feed ranker, profiling slow endpoints, debugging complex race conditions, and identifying memory leaks.Overseeing personalization processes end-to-end: retrieval, ranking, cold-start challenges, and ensuring recommendations remain fresh and relevant.Delivering infrastructure components that the team relies on: data pipelines, internal tools, evaluation systems.
