About the job
Join Our Vision
At Vertical Aerospace, we are at the forefront of revolutionizing electric aviation. Our flagship eVTOL (electric, vertical take-off and landing) aircraft, the Valo, is designed to achieve a 'zero emissions' standard, setting new benchmarks for safety in air travel.
We eschew outdated practices in favor of innovative strategies that redefine aerospace excellence. As we transition from a prototype-focused company to a thriving SME, the upcoming years are crucial for realizing our ambitious objectives. With a target of achieving airliner-level safety certification by 2028, we are poised to serve our airline and operational partners effectively.
Your Role
As a Senior Battery Systems Engineer, you will assume a pivotal role in overseeing the technical and systems-level aspects of the battery system, one of the most vital components of the Valo aircraft. Your responsibilities will encompass system architecture, integration, and certification readiness, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
You will collaborate closely with teams across mechanical, electrical, battery management systems (BMS), and electrochemical engineering, ensuring the development of a compliant and high-performing battery system.
Your daily tasks will include leading system trade studies, validating requirements, contributing to safety analyses, reviewing certification test evidence, and articulating technical decisions during multidisciplinary design reviews. Your ability to make informed engineering decisions and lead effectively in a fast-paced certification environment will be essential for your success.
