About Our Team

The Cloud Platform team at Mapbox delivers the infrastructure and frameworks essential for powering Mapbox services within the AWS ecosystem. This globally distributed team, with members located in the US, Germany, and Finland, is tasked with overseeing infrastructure-as-code tooling, CI/CD platforms, test environments, and the foundational compute and networking resources crucial for all Mapbox tools and services. We provide support to over 700 engineers across North America, Europe, and Japan. We foster a collaborative environment, encouraging individual development while utilizing cloud-native technologies to create a significant impact.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into engineering workflows, we seek engineers capable of thoughtfully embedding AI into design, development, and decision-making processes. Our interview process will explore your experience in leveraging AI within your engineering tasks.

Core responsibilities of the Cloud Platform team include:

Infrastructure-as-Code: Ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective infrastructure management utilizing Terraform/Terragrunt, alongside legacy CloudFormation/CDK.
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Offer tools and processes to enhance observability and facilitate disaster recovery.
Developer Experience: Implement centralized, scalable, and dependable CI/CD pipelines for development teams based on GitHub Actions.

Your Role

We are on the lookout for a Software Development Engineer II who is passionate about delivering cloud-native containerized infrastructure and deployment platforms that align with GitOps principles, supporting the dynamic growth of our business.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Onboarding AWS resources to our declarative GitOps-based framework using Terraform and Terragrunt.
Maintaining and troubleshooting legacy cloud infrastructure in AWS deployed with CloudFormation/CDK.
