This Senior Combat Game Designer role is based in Santa Monica, CA, with a hybrid/onsite schedule. The position is with Naughty Dog, a studio recognized for nearly forty years of influential game design and narrative innovation. Recent projects include The Last of Us Part II Remastered and the PS5 remake of The Last of Us Part I. The team is currently working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and welcomes new talent to help shape future projects.
What you will do
- Design, implement, and own enemy NPC archetypes from concept through execution.
- Work closely with AI programmers to develop foundational NPC technology and improve enemy AI behaviors.
- Collaborate with animators to create unique enemy movement, melee attacks, ambient behaviors, and special abilities.
- Join forces with the Design team to brainstorm, prototype, implement, fine-tune, and balance gameplay mechanics and systems.
- Coordinate with animation, programming, and art teams to ensure all necessary assets and technical support are delivered for designed enemies.
