RequirementsA minimum of 7 years of experience in PLC/PAC logic design and programming using IEC-61131 languages. A minimum of 7 years of experience in HMI/SCADA system design, including multi-node or distributed architectures. At least 5 years of electrical design experience related to control panels and industrial automation systems. Proven experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, and their serial equivalents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Certifications (or willingness to obtain):Rockwell Automation Certified Programmer or equivalent RA technical certifications (e.g., ControlLogix/Studio 5000). Siemens or Schneider Electric automation certifications. ISA certifications like ISA CAP (Certified Automation Professional). Ignition (Inductive Automation) Core or Gold Certification.

Description
The Senior Controls Design Engineer will spearhead the design and development of sophisticated HVAC and industrial control systems, placing a strong emphasis on PLC logic design, HMI/SCADA architecture, and electrical control systems engineering. This role prioritizes comprehensive design, programming, and documentation utilizing industry-standard platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Emerson, GE, Schneider Electric, Ignition, among others. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of system integration and be dedicated to delivering exceptional design packages and control solutions.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Creating PLC logic designs and programming aligned with control narratives, operational sequences, and project specifications.
  • Designing HMI/SCADA systems architecture, including graphics and operational standards.
  • Developing and reviewing intricate electrical control schematics and panel designs.
  • Compiling design documentation such as I/O lists, network architectures, control narratives, and bills of materials.
  • Assisting with field operations, encompassing commissioning, functional testing, and design validation.
  • Facilitating system integration using various serial and Ethernet-based industrial communication protocols.
  • Leading and/or assisting in Factory Acceptance Testing and design review processes.
  • Contributing to proposal development by reviewing plans, specifications, and scope documents.
  • Presenting technical designs and solutions to clients and internal teams.
  • Preparing technical documentation and design deliverables.

Position Parameters: This position entails approximately 30% national travel to client sites, regional offices, and project locations to support business operations.
