ResponsibilitiesLead a team of 5 data engineers, offering career coaching and growth opportunities while ensuring alignment with business objectives. Collaborate with analytics, data science, and product leaders to identify and prioritize critical data engineering projects, guiding them through all stages of development and operations. Establish the technical vision for the team, including tools and processes. Ensure the technical integrity of products under the team's ownership. Work with fellow engineers to standardize best practices for instrumentation, telemetry, and metrics collection. Guarantee data quality, governance, and adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Promote cost-effectiveness by ensuring scalable and efficient data solutions. Foster strong relationships with data engineering teams across Riot, leading the way in shaping infrastructure, standards, tooling, and organizational practices. Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Over 10 years of experience in data engineering or a related domain, with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Proven hands-on expertise with big data technologies, particularly the Apache stack (e.g., Airflow, Spark). Strong proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and Databricks. Expertise in designing scalable and efficient data models for large datasets in collaboration with various stakeholders. Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and product teams. Experience mentoring and guiding other engineers.
