Rainmaker tackles water scarcity and weather challenges by developing cloud seeding systems. The team blends radar validation, rugged unmanned aerial systems (UAS), advanced weather modeling, and environmentally safe cloud seeding materials to help increase precipitation.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer based in El Segundo, CA, this role works at the heart of Rainmaker’s operations. The position focuses on UAS platforms, dispersion payloads, and advanced sensing equipment, shaping the electrical backbone of the company’s core systems. Collaboration with a skilled engineering group is central to this position, and contributions have a direct, visible impact on project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design: Lead the architecture and design of complex electrical systems for hardware platforms. Define requirements, interface specifications, and integration strategies at the system level.
- Rapid Hardware Prototyping: Build and refine functional hardware prototypes, iterating quickly based on test results and operational feedback.
- PCB Design: Develop schematics and layouts for power distribution, sensor interfaces, payload controllers, and communication modules using Altium.
- Board Bringup and Testing: Assemble, debug, and validate new printed circuit boards. Create testing procedures and fixtures to ensure reliable performance during flight operations.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation and fabrication data for manufacturers, supporting quality control and clear communication.
