About Our Team:

  • Our team manages significant parts of the software engineering stack, focusing on a diverse range of subsystems. We develop bare-metal and RTOS microcontroller code (stm32 product line), integrate and program embedded Linux and Android platforms (Qualcomm and Nvidia SOCs), maintain the corresponding Linux kernels, and contribute to the design and launch of new electronics.

  • We collaborate closely with both hardware engineers and the wider software organization, establishing a solid foundation for the entire Skydio software team.

About the Role:

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at Skydio, you will play a pivotal role in developing reliable embedded firmware that serves as the brain of our autonomous drones and underpins our expanding accessory product line. This role bridges the gap between sophisticated algorithms and essential sensors/mechanical hardware, allowing you to architect, build, and lead the development of both current and future products in a dynamic environment.

Your Impact:

  • Guide the technical direction and architecture of complex systems.

  • Design and implement the embedded software that operates on the vehicles.

  • Characterize, integrate, and validate key subsystems (e.g., next-gen cameras, radio).

  • Assist in bringing up and debugging new hardware.

  • Develop interfaces and drivers for various sensors and devices.
