Senior Engine Programmer

Join our dynamic team at thatgamecompany as a Senior Engine Programmer, where you will play a pivotal role in developing an unparalleled social gaming experience. As a valued member of our elite Engine and Game Development team, you will tackle exciting engineering challenges related to Performance (CPU and GPU), Cross-platform compatibility, Netcode, Multithreading, Audio, and Rendering, among others.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in game engine development, whether through professional work, academic projects, or personal endeavors.

  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, specifically with C or C++.

  • A passion for crafting custom game engines rather than utilizing mainstream engine solutions.

  • Experience in building and porting custom engines across various platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage long-term projects within complex codebases involving multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in game development or related 3D media using C++.

  • A personal engine project or game (ideally with publicly available code).

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate closely with other high-level engineers and artists.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and enhance core systems within the TGC game engine.

  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and fellow engineers to gather requirements and refine features.

  • Monitor, identify, and troubleshoot issues to boost team efficiency.
