About Motional
Motional develops autonomous vehicles with a focus on safety, reliability, and accessibility. Backed by Hyundai Motor Group, the company is advancing physical AI to shape the future of transportation. Motional’s mission includes making streets safer and supporting sustainable mobility.
Team Overview: Systems Readiness and Performance
This team bridges software development and real-world deployment. Responsibilities include system design, verifying and validating the autonomy stack, and setting as well as measuring performance benchmarks. The group works closely with autonomy, infrastructure, and operations partners to build the safety case for the commercial launch of fully driverless IONIQ 5 robotaxis in Las Vegas.
Role Overview: Senior Engineer, Machine Learning Systems for Autonomy
The Autonomy Subsystems team focuses on designing and evaluating autonomy software modules. This senior engineer will assess machine learning subsystems through a variety of methods, such as offline model evaluations, open and closed-loop re-simulations, and on-road performance analysis. The goal is to define and validate metrics that reflect subsystem performance, then share insights with machine learning developers to support ongoing improvements for ML models used in vehicles.
What You Will Do
- Design and evaluate machine learning software modules for autonomous vehicles
- Conduct offline model assessments and analyze re-simulation results
- Evaluate on-road performance of machine learning models
- Establish and validate metrics for autonomy subsystem performance
- Collaborate with machine learning developers to improve deployed models
Who We’re Looking For
- Experienced systems engineer with a background in safety-critical systems and machine learning model evaluation
- Interest in autonomy, robotics, and machine learning
- Ready to contribute to building production-ready systems for robotaxi deployment
