Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Frontend Engineer at Canva, you will encounter various challenges and opportunities depending on the team you join. Your work may involve creating engaging and interactive experiences within the Canva Editor, or designing comprehensive user journeys across platforms such as Canva Docs, Presentations, and Websites. You could also play a vital role in launching innovative AI-powered features through Magic Studio, or participate in rapid product experiments that create significant impact. With multiple teams looking for frontend engineers, we are eager to discover what drives your passion and identify the best fit for your skills.

As Canva continues to grow, change remains an integral part of our culture. This position offers a glimpse into your daily responsibilities, which may evolve over time. Typically, a frontend engineer at this level will focus on:

  • Leading the design and implementation of high-performance, user-friendly interfaces using contemporary frontend frameworks.
  • Collaborating closely with Product Managers, designers, and fellow engineers to define and deliver impactful product features.
  • Advancing and scaling Canva's frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and unified design systems.
  • Promoting accessibility, performance, and engineering best practices across various product surfaces.
  • Writing clean, well-tested code while proactively identifying opportunities for technical enhancements or refactoring.
  • Guiding design and code reviews, mentoring colleagues, and elevating the technical standards of your team.

Your Qualifications

  • You possess substantial experience in developing intricate, user-facing applications utilizing modern frontend technologies (we work with React and TypeScript).
  • Your JavaScript skills are strong, with a profound understanding of the web platform.
  • You are confident in taking ownership of features from architecture to delivery, thriving in environments where you define the
