The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who will play a pivotal role in advancing mine development, infrastructure design, and operational efficiency across both open pit and underground mining projects. You will be instrumental in delivering geotechnical expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial studies and site evaluations to construction, operations, and final closure.
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for developing and sustaining geotechnical models, conducting stability analyses, and ensuring that mine designs are safe and efficient. Collaborating closely with teams in geology, mine planning, mining engineering, and infrastructure, you will guarantee that geotechnical factors are seamlessly integrated into mine layouts, schedules, and operational strategies.
This is a hands-on technical position ideal for a skilled engineer who possesses solid technical foundations and thrives in both office and field environments.
Your Responsibilities
Site Investigation & Ground Characterization
Design and implement geotechnical investigations that include drilling, test pits, core logging, sampling, and in-situ testing.
Analyze geotechnical, structural, and hydrogeological data to create site-specific ground and rock mass models.
Oversee and evaluate laboratory testing programs for soil and rock mechanics.
Open Pit Geotechnical Design
Conduct slope stability analyses for open pits, waste dumps, leach pads, and stockpiles.
Provide geotechnical insights for mine layouts, sequencing, and design alternatives.
Infrastructure & Tailings Support
Create and assess geotechnical designs for mine infrastructure, including haul roads, embankments, foundations, and site earthworks.
Ensure that geotechnical designs comply with relevant guidelines, standards, and governance frameworks.
