Basic Success CriteriaBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Over 5 years of experience in electrical harness design. Proficient in strategically routing harnessing, both in CAD and physically within the aircraft. Experience defining routing and bulkhead requirements. Familiarity with connectors, backshells, EMI shielding, and methods for cable/wire protection. A passion for spatial packaging. Possess a logical mindset, curiosity, and a strong desire to learn and teach.

As a Senior Harness Engineer, you will play a vital role within our Vehicle Design and Integration team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. This small yet dynamic team is focused on designing, integrating, testing, and operating advanced mechanical and electrical systems. In this cross-functional position, you will collaborate closely with avionics, mechanical, integration, and production teams. You will engage in hands-on tasks involving the design, assembly, integration, and testing of harnesses, enclosures, and mounting hardware, significantly broadening your design and application expertise. This role offers flexibility, as you can work locally or in a hybrid setup, with regular travel required to our Mountain View, California facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with avionics, mechanical, and integration teams to establish the harness architecture, including routing, bulkhead planning, and production and integration processes.
  • Lead the detailed design of both flight and test harnesses, working alongside production technicians and A&Ps to ensure proper installation on aircraft.
  • Design, install, and test your hardware on remotely operated aircraft, playing a crucial role in the collaboration of hardware teams within the aircraft.
