Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years in health IT strategy, advisory, or consulting, preferably with large academic medical centers or integrated health systems. Proven track record of advising C-suite and VP-level health system executives (CIO, CNIO, CMO) on technology strategy and roadmap choices. Strong understanding of Epic and the broader health IT landscape, including digital infrastructure, clinical communications, smart room technologies, and inpatient solutions. Exceptional ability to facilitate complex, multi-stakeholder alignment sessions and achieve consensus on competing priorities. Experience in translating ambiguous strategic objectives into structured, actionable execution plans. Outstanding written communication skills, capable of producing executive-quality documents under tight deadlines. Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, fixed-timeline environment without compromising quality.

techfirefly is hiring a Senior Health IT Consultant to guide a major academic medical center through the next phase of its technology planning. The main objective: transform an existing technology roadmap into a comprehensive Healthcare Technology Execution Blueprint for the first year (2026-2027). This blueprint should be detailed, sequenced, and include all mapped dependencies, ensuring it is ready for project management handoff by July 2026.
This consultant will take the lead on strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, aligning teams and priorities to produce a clear, actionable plan.
Engagement details
- Duration: 3 months
- Location: Remote within the United States, with required travel to San Francisco 1-2 times per month (each trip lasts 3-4 days)
- Compensation: Starting at $120/hour
