About the Role
We are seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to spearhead the development of core mobile monetization experiences and iOS foundations that facilitate user interactions such as account management, payment for services, and access to family features across OpenAI's mobile applications.
This role presents a unique 0→1, greenfield opportunity where you'll define the architecture, components, and reusable frameworks essential for product teams to deliver quickly while adhering to high standards of security, reliability, privacy, and user trust. You will collaborate extensively with backend engineers, product managers, designers, safety experts, and researchers to convert evolving requirements into high-quality iOS systems and experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deploy new monetization experiences on iOS, including purchase flows, subscription management, and monetization-adjacent surfaces that showcase AI's capabilities.
Design and maintain shared iOS frameworks and components for account, trust, and commerce flows utilized across OpenAI's mobile applications (e.g., identity management, entitlements, payments, policy-aware user experience).
Oversee complex client-side systems encompassing UI, networking, local state management, observability, and integrations with Apple platforms (StoreKit, Sign in with Apple, device security features, etc.).
Enhance performance, reliability, and responsiveness for global users, implementing robust offline and poor-network handling and safe rollout strategies.
Develop and refine testing frameworks (unit, integration, snapshot) to ensure high-quality deliverables.
