Key Responsibilities:Conduct pioneering research in AI applications for biological challenges, including cancer research, genomics, computational biology, and immunology. Develop new models or enhance existing ones to detect biological alterations related to disease. Create models that ensure high accuracy and robust generalization to new datasets. Utilize advanced interpretability techniques to elucidate the biological signals identified by the models, potentially leading to new biological insights. Collaborate with ML Engineering teams to optimize Freenome’s computational infrastructure for effective model training and refinement. Approach your work with mindfulness, transparency, and a commitment to ethical standards. Required Qualifications:PhD or equivalent research experience focused on AI within a relevant quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

About this Opportunity:

Freenome is on the lookout for a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to join and expand our dynamic Machine Learning Science team within the Computational Science department. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning (ML) principles, and extensive experience with deep learning (DL) methodologies. A proven track record of leveraging these techniques to tackle intricate research challenges, along with the ability to excel in a collaborative environment, is essential.

In this role, you will spearhead the development of algorithms aimed at early, blood-based cancer detection tests. Utilizing your ML/DL and statistical expertise, you will create models to identify molecular signals in blood samples. You will collaborate closely with computational biologists, molecular biologists, and ML engineers to design and execute innovative research experiments, significantly contributing to our mission of transforming cancer diagnostics.

Reporting directly to the Director of Machine Learning Science, this position offers the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement at our Brisbane, California headquarters (2-3 days per week in the office), or the option to work remotely.
