BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in Materials Science or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of experience in semiconductor wafer manufacturing or processing. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Master's degree or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Over 8 years of hands-on experience in silicon wafer manufacturing (photovoltaic or semiconductor).

SENIOR MATERIALS ENGINEER, SILICON WAFER ENGINEERING (STARLINK)

As part of our innovative Starlink project, which aims to provide global low-latency broadband internet, we are seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer. You will leverage your expertise in materials science and engineering to address challenges related to silicon wafer production for Starlink solar cells. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and readiness of wafer production, adhering to space-grade performance and reliability standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the selection and commissioning of equipment for wafer slicing, cleaning, degumming, and inspection while establishing operational standards.
  • Collaborate with solar engineering, reliability, production, and supply chain teams to translate mission specifications into wafer criteria.
  • Oversee the development and qualification of wafer processes, ensuring the production of low-defect, high-reliability wafers.
  • Qualify supplier materials to guarantee contamination-free wafers.
  • Establish environmental controls, metrology tools, and inspection strategies to uphold high-quality wafer standards.
  • Analyze metrology data in relation to device performance and reliability, setting acceptance criteria accordingly.
  • Promote defect reduction through root-cause analysis, corrective measures, and continual process enhancement.
  • Assist in capacity expansion and factory layout strategies for high-volume wafer manufacturing.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
