About Pacific Fusion
Established in 2023, Pacific Fusion aims to revolutionize the energy landscape by providing abundant, affordable, and clean energy solutions.
We are in the fast-paced development of a pulser-driven inertial fusion system with the goal of achieving net facility gain (producing more fusion energy than the energy input). Concurrently, we are creating essential components for cost-effective fusion systems.
Our vision is bold, having attracted over $900 million in funding from visionary investors, empowering us to realize our goals. We unite top-tier scientists, engineers, and industry professionals from the fusion sector and advanced technology domains, driven by a collective urgency to deliver sustainable energy while combating climate change and addressing the surging global energy demands. Why This Role Matters
At Pacific Fusion, we are on the lookout for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer – Fluid Systems to pave the way toward commercial fusion energy. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of fluid systems crucial to our demonstration system, tackling complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges necessary for validating net-facility gain in pulsed magnetic inertial fusion. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Process Engineer in Pulser Engineering and operate at the crossroads of fluid systems design, thermal management, and hands-on hardware integration. This position is based onsite at our Fremont, CA office, with occasional collaboration at our San Leandro, CA Build Center.
What You'll Do
- Take complete ownership of fluid system designs, incorporating thermal and structural subsystem considerations, while continually refining design specifications to adapt to changing system requirements.
- Innovate hardware solutions by applying engineering principles and first-principles thinking, validating these solutions through thorough testing.
- Design fluid system hardware and process engineering tools (ePLAN), executing detailed analyses with both in-house and external tools.
- Oversee designs from initial concept through fabrication and testing, constructing and evaluating assemblies in our Fremont Research High Bay and San Leandro Build Center.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, manufacturing, and pulser engineering, to produce integrated system-level designs.
- Engage closely with seasoned professionals across various engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive development and implementation.
