Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:Craft mechanical designs and models for satellite structures, subsystems, and components. Perform structural analyses to verify adherence to performance and reliability standards. Enhance designs for weight efficiency, material selection, and manufacturability. Assess and choose suitable materials and processes for satellite mechanical systems. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical, thermal, and propulsion subsystems. Engage in the assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) of satellite hardware. Conduct environmental testing, including statics, vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum tests, to validate mechanical designs. Create technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and test reports. Maintain precise records of design modifications, test outcomes, and other engineering documentation. Generate detailed reports and presentations to convey design concepts, analysis findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
About the job
In the evolving aerospace sector, spacecraft are at the forefront of innovation, addressing significant unmet demands. With an increase in launch vehicles and a decrease in orbital costs, numerous companies are entering the space payload market.
This unprecedented surge in payload providers, coupled with lower launch expenses, has created an extraordinary demand for commercial spacecraft platforms, specifically satellite buses. These structures are essential for housing customer payloads, which are then transported by launch vehicles.
At Apex, we manufacture these satellite buses on a grand scale, utilizing a sophisticated blend of software, vertical integration, and purpose-built hardware. Our spacecraft are pivotal in shaping the future of society through applications such as earth observation and communications.
We invite you to be a part of our mission to expand humanity's reach into the cosmos.
Role Overview
Apex is on the lookout for a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to enhance our satellite engineering division. In this pivotal role, you will develop mechanical designs and models for satellite structures, subsystems, and components. You'll be tasked with conducting structural analyses to guarantee performance and reliability while optimizing designs for weight, material selection, and manufacturability.
