To excel in this role, candidates should have a deep understanding of network engineering principles, complemented by strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include:Leading the design, operation, and maintenance of networks while proactively monitoring performance and implementing necessary upgrades to hardware and software. Maintaining comprehensive documentation of network configurations, operating procedures, and service records that accurately reflect the physical and logical network structure. Providing timely assistance to end users encountering network issues, utilizing a variety of diagnostic tools to resolve problems. Offering first and second-level network support and participating in the escalation process as needed. Communicating effectively with users to ensure swift problem resolution and taking preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences. Installing and configuring telecommunications and network devices in alignment with the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery strategies. Tracking all trouble tickets and project changes using appropriate management applications. Leading both short- and long-term technology planning while providing technical support for special projects. Assisting in the research and evaluation of proposed hardware and software modifications and upgrades.

Luminis Health seeks a Senior Network Engineer to join the team in Annapolis, MD. This role leads the network engineering group and collaborates with other networking staff to advance the organization's strategic goals. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for building and maintaining a resilient infrastructure that supports both business continuity and disaster recovery.

What you will do

  • Supervise and guide the network engineering team, ensuring projects and operations align with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the management, design, and support of network systems within an enterprise Windows Active Directory environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network infrastructure issues to maintain reliable connectivity for applications across LAN, WAN, wireless networks, VPNs, firewalls, DMZs, and remote access.
  • Plan and direct daily operations, administration, and management of WANs, LANs, and wireless devices supporting Cisco networks.
  • Monitor network performance and deploy intrusion detection systems to safeguard infrastructure.
  • Implement strong security practices to protect both public and private networks.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco IOS devices, including advanced routing protocols such as BGP and EIGRP in multi-layer switched and routed environments.
  • Design and enforce multiple security layers for wireless infrastructure.
  • Use network diagnostic and troubleshooting tools, including NetMRI.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco IOS.
  • Direct experience with routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP) in complex network environments.
  • Familiarity with VoIP technologies.
  • Expertise in network security for both wired and wireless networks.
  • Experience with network diagnostic tools such as NetMRI.
