QualificationsEducation & Experience – A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering coupled with 15+ years of relevant experience. Citizenship – U. S. citizenship is required due to the federal nature of the work. Security Clearance – Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Clearance. In-depth understanding of nuclear criticality safety procedures is essential. Exceptional coordination and communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Experience with DOE and/or commercial nuclear projects is highly desirable.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our dynamic team as a Senior Nuclear Criticality Engineer at the Uranium Processing Facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and construction of pivotal nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the nuclear aspects related to the design and construction of the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF).

  • Develop, revise, and peer-review Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs), Technical Deviations (TDs), and other Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) technical basis documentation.

  • Conduct facility walkdowns, review implementing documents, and actively participate in Operational Safety Boards.

  • Identify and resolve any non-compliance or discrepancies with safety requirements.

  • Develop and execute calculations pertinent to nuclear facilities.

  • Ensure that all design requirements are effectively met.

  • Create, review, and implement Nuclear Criticality Safety Evaluations (NCSEs) and Determinations (NCSDs).

  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the NCS program, including operability evaluations and problem report dispositions.

  • Foster a robust safety culture, embracing zero-accident philosophies and promoting safe work practices across operational areas.

  • Review operational areas to gauge compliance with NCS protocols.

  • Conduct thorough NCS evaluations.
