As a Senior or Expert Technical Character Artist integrated into the production of an unannounced project, you will play a pivotal role in the visual and technical development of characters within an ambitious AAA universe. Bridging the gap between art and programming, you will help define the final appearance of characters, design robust technical solutions, and develop tools and pipelines that enable artistic teams to achieve high visual standards for the next generation of games.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to all aspects of the technical setup of characters, from engine integration to real-time performance tuning;
- Designing, writing, and maintaining character shaders, including skin, fabric, moisture, and dirt effects;
- Developing and evolving advanced shading features and rendering effects in line with artistic direction;
- Actively participating in the development of tools and pipelines for character creation, focusing on stability, performance, and efficiency;
- Researching and proposing workflow optimizations to enhance character pipeline productivity;
- Collaborating closely with programmers, animators, Character Artists, and other Technical Artists;
- Supporting content teams in debugging technical issues related to tools, assets, or performance;
- Documenting and maintaining technical solutions and clean, scalable code designed for the long term.
