Platform Engineering at Trade Republic
Our Platform Engineering team is the backbone of Trade Republic's engineering capabilities. With a focus on building scalable platforms for a Europe-scale bank, we support internal engineers and create in-house control systems for managing the bank's infrastructure. Our dedicated ~50-person team is committed to enabling product engineers to operate quickly and independently.
Your Role
The database platform is central to our operations at Trade Republic—each trade, savings plan, and card payment interacts with it. Currently, many of our database operations are manual or rely on basic automation. In this role, you will revolutionize our operations by building a platform layer that makes PostgreSQL operations self-service, automated, and reliable by default.
- Run PostgreSQL at Scale: Take ownership of the reliability and uptime of our PostgreSQL clusters—design for high availability, engineer for resilience, and ensure near-zero downtime during maintenance, upgrades, and failure scenarios.
- Build the Database Platform: Automate the entire operational lifecycle—provisioning, configuration, upgrades, scaling, and backup—transforming manual database operations into self-service workflows.
- Establish Best Practices: Define database standards—including schema design, connection management, and query patterns—and integrate these into the platform for seamless operation.
