Role Overview
As a Senior Powertrain and Battery Management Engineer at Manna, you will spearhead the design, testing, and optimization of our drone power systems, with a keen emphasis on battery management, energy modeling, and performance efficiency. Reporting to the Head of Electronics, you will play a pivotal role in the transition to innovative battery chemistries while ensuring safe, reliable, and scalable powertrain performance across all operational regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all UAV battery-related activities across various regions and environments (UAE, USA, Finland, Ireland).
- Design and implement battery ground test systems, ensuring repeatability and safety.
- Conduct energy modeling and simulations (MATLAB/Simulink) to optimize energy usage, maximizing flight time and range.
- Provide technical guidance in areas such as cell balancing and management, thermal management, state of health (SOH)/lifetime optimization, powertrain efficiency, and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Facilitate the transition to new, safer, higher energy-density chemistries, planning and executing comprehensive test campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Electronic Engineering team on the development and integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS) across multiple UAV platforms.
- Establish battery commissioning and validation processes for production readiness.
- Define best practices for safe charging, discharging, and battery pack lifetime management.
- Manage strategic partnerships with key suppliers to ensure supply chain reliability and technical quality at scale.
- Work cross-functionally with Electronic, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to enhance powertrain performance.
