Are you ready to redefine the limits of possibility?We are seeking the following qualifications:Proven extensive experience with hydraulic and water quality modeling software (e.g., Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller, and/or TUFLOW). Solid understanding of Environment Agency standards for preparing flood models for risk assessments. Basic knowledge of physico-chemical water quality and relevant regulatory standards for freshwater systems. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional qualification with CIWEM or similar, either obtained or nearing completion. Practical experience with scripting languages such as Python, Anaconda, or Ruby is a plus. You should be self-motivated, capable of working independently when necessary, and possess a strong commitment to your role, with a willingness to take initiative.

We are actively seeking a dedicated Senior Flood Modeller to enhance our vibrant Water Business Line. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant and impactful projects throughout the UK and beyond, all while being part of one of the UK’s most innovative engineering networks.

In this position, you will serve as a principal technical resource, guiding junior team members while striving to expand our services to local authorities, water companies, and both private and public sector clients.

Your Responsibilities:

At AECOM, you will be integral to delivering top-notch flood modelling and hydrology initiatives. Under general supervision, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and validating hydraulic models using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS, and ICM to assist in the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, conducting Flood Risk Assessments, and executing reservoir flood studies.
  • Creating water quality models which may encompass physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical aspects using industry-standard software like MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT, and/or ICM.
  • Conceptualizing and scoping modeling methodologies while considering associated risks and opportunities.
  • Conducting and verifying hydrological assessments, including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2, and WINFAP.
  • Leading and contributing to tenders for projects ranging from innovative initiatives to multimillion-pound framework contracts.
  • Mentoring team members to promote their professional growth.
  • Establishing strong relationships with clients and collaborating with other technical disciplines.
  • Staying informed about legislative developments and guidelines that may impact our services.
  • Using AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to clients within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Collaborating closely with clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to deliver a comprehensive range of fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage flood risk management projects.
