Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are driven, innovative, and have a solid understanding of API and AI technologies. Ideally, you will have experience in product management, an aptitude for strategic thinking, and a proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion.

About the job

At Mercury, we are redefining the banking stack for startups, emphasizing a meticulously crafted, straightforward, and powerful product experience.

We envision a future where financial software operates seamlessly on your behalf. Mercury's API serves as the conduit for our most ambitious clients to engage with us programmatically: retrieving transaction data, managing accounts, and integrating with AI-driven workflows through tools like MCP. Our goal is to create a Mercury that can converse with customers and AI agents, answering queries and facilitating actions.

We are in search of a dynamic Product Manager to spearhead Mercury's API, oversee integrations with the wider AI and developer tool ecosystem, and innovate AI-powered product experiences that render Mercury both programmable and intelligent. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in API and AI development who recognize the potential of making banking programmable as one of today's most intriguing product challenges.

*Mercury operates as a fintech company and is not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services are provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N. A., Members FDIC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the roadmap for Mercury's API, transitioning it from niche, read-heavy usage to a robust platform that empowers customers to innovate on top of Mercury.
  • Formulate Mercury's strategy for engagement with the broader ecosystem of AI tools and developer platforms, determining capability exposure, integration prioritization, and our standing in agentic workflows.
  • Envision how AI can transform customer interactions with their finances within Mercury, from asking questions about their business to executing actions autonomously.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of how Mercury's most technical customers currently utilize our API and identify unmet needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to make informed technical decisions regarding API design, data access, and capabilities, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
  • Work closely with Mercury’s growth and partnerships teams to position our API and AI products as key competitive advantages in customer acquisition and retention.
  • Thriving in a fast-paced environment where leadership is deeply invested in this domain and expects innovative thinking and rapid execution.

Qualifications for Success:

  • A genuine enthusiasm for the evolving landscape of AI and its implications for financial technology.
