Our primary focus lies in Project Controls, encompassing Scheduling, Cost Management, Document Control, Budget Monitoring, Risk Analysis, Claims Avoidance, Change Management, and Earned Value Management.
Position Overview:
We are actively seeking a Senior Project Controls Cost Engineer who will take charge of creating and managing detailed cost estimates for significant and multi-year electric utility projects. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in project controls, cost estimation, and public utility sector regulations.
This is a hybrid role, requiring three days of remote work and two days on-site (office and/or field based on project needs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and upkeep of comprehensive cost estimates, covering labor, materials, contracts, indirect costs, and allowances.
- Ensure that cost estimates align with project requirements, incorporating work breakdown structures and adhering to regulatory standards (e.g., FERC/CPUC jurisdictional splits).
- Offer expert guidance on intricate cost estimation issues, including unit pricing and market trends.
- Conduct advanced analytics to facilitate business decisions, manage project finances and timelines, and mitigate potential risks.
- Engage with various project stakeholders to collect necessary data and foster strong collaborative relationships.
- Oversee project control assignments and functional teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and present project control data for corporate governance, audits, and regulatory submissions.
- Mentor and develop junior project controls professionals to cultivate future talent.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimation and capital projects/construction, ideally in the electric utility sector.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and project controls/cost estimating software.
- Familiarity with utility construction, California's regulatory landscape, and EPC estimation is highly desirable.
