Qualifications

Experience: 8-12 years in project management of LNG projects, particularly in FEED and PMC phases. Education: Master’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. International Experience: Prior work experience with global engineering or consulting firms is highly advantageous. Leadership: Proven ability to effectively lead multicultural and cross-functional teams. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills. Language: Fluent in English; proficiency in local languages will be an advantage. Tools: Familiarity with project management systems (MS Project, Primavera), Microsoft Project, Navisworks, Aconex, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.

AFRY is on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to play a pivotal role in the coordination and support of LNG projects during the FEED, PMC, and technical consultancy phases from our Kuala Lumpur office.

This role emphasizes project management support, the development of Project Execution Plans (PEP), preparation of essential project management documentation, and collaboration with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams. The successful candidate will review technical deliverables to ensure efficient project execution.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in LNG project development, a solid background in international engineering or consulting environments, and the capability to manage multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams across global offices.

Familiarity with local construction contract mechanisms and project execution practices in Malaysia and Southeast Asia is crucial, including:

  • Understanding of FIDIC-based contracts and project administration
  • Experience in local contractor coordination, construction interface management, and engineering support during project execution
  • Knowledge of local regulatory processes, approvals, and project development practices in Malaysia

Experience working with Malaysian contractors, regional engineering firms, and international EPC contractors involved in LNG or energy infrastructure projects will be an added advantage. The candidate should be adept at navigating multi-national project environments and coordinating with engineering teams from various locations.

Project Engineering & Management Support

  1. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of LNG import terminal projects, including FEED, PMC, and other technical advisory assignments.
  2. Develop and maintain Project Execution Plans (PEP) and other key project management documents, including project schedules, execution strategies, and coordination plans.
  3. Support the Project Manager and act as Deputy Project Manager in managing project scope, schedule, deliverables, and interfaces.
  4. Facilitate project reporting activities including progress reports, technical status updates, and performance tracking.

Engineering Coordination

  1. Oversee engineering activities across all disciplines including marine, process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and safety.
  2. Ensure effective technical communication and interface management between engineering teams, consultants, contractors, and clients.
  3. Review engineering deliverables to guarantee technical quality, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
  4. Assist in resolving technical issues, design challenges, and interdisciplinary interfaces during project development.

Client Coordination

  1. Engage with clients on technical discussions and ensure alignment on project objectives.
