ABOUT THE ROLE
As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will operate under the guidance of a Certified Plumbing Designer or a licensed engineer. Your projects will encompass new construction and renovation efforts across educational, healthcare, corporate, and scientific sectors.
 
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead the intricate design of ductwork, piping, and equipment selection for plumbing and fire protection systems in large-scale buildings, demonstrating capability to independently manage all mechanical disciplines without oversight.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior designers and the engineering team.
  • Supervise the work of less experienced staff, including conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Participate in the QAQC process and act as an independent reviewer when necessary.
  • Engage effectively with clients and collaborate with the design team.
  • Manage engineering complexities associated with Energy Model software utilization.
  • Create Revit/BIM models for plumbing and fire protection systems throughout all project phases, from schematic design to construction administration, including layout and detailed drawings as necessary, and assist with HVAC modeling when required.
  • Specify essential equipment such as water heaters, plumbing fixtures, water softeners, and pumps.
  • Review shop drawings for alignment with specifications and contract documents.
  • Attend Owner, Architect, and Construction Administration (OAC) meetings, maintaining a focus on project budget.
  • Facilitate or lead value engineering sessions with the Architectural/Engineering team.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance quality, coordination, and efficiency.
  • Conduct staff development activities such as work planning, budget development, and scheduling in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Address RFIs and manage change orders in construction document preparation.
  • Make job site visits to verify existing conditions and monitor construction progress, participating actively in construction meetings, which may require physical walkthroughs of the site.
  • Represent the company in project-related activities, directing efforts towards successful outcomes.
