At NordVPN, you will support millions of users globally through our extensive edge network. Your primary focus will be on ensuring content accessibility, making certain that traffic is delivered to users quickly, reliably, and securely, no matter where they are.
You will work at the convergence of networking, load balancing, and traffic shaping. When there are issues with speed, accessibility, or protocol-level behavior, you will investigate and resolve these challenges.
Your key responsibilities:
- Guarantee content accessibility across a globally distributed edge infrastructure
- Design, manage, and enhance load balancing and traffic shaping systems at scale
- Diagnose and resolve connection, latency, and accessibility issues comprehensively
- Oversee HTTP traffic flow from the client to the edge and back to the origin
- Investigate and solve website and service accessibility challenges
- Collaborate across protocol layers to identify and resolve issues
Essential qualifications:
- Expertise in load balancing and traffic shaping, including architecture, algorithms, health checks, and failover strategies
- Proficiency with NGINX and/or HAProxy, including configuration, tuning, and debugging in high-traffic environments
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, routing, firewalls, and packet analysis
- Fluency in the OSI model, comfortable working across L3–L7, including TCP internals and SSL/TLS handshake
- Experience with SaltStack
- Linux administration skills
- Proficient in Python for automation, tooling, and scripting
- Adept at troubleshooting network and application-layer issues in production at scale
