About Ditto
Ditto builds technology for data mobility at the edge, helping developers create real-time applications that keep working even when networks are unreliable or disconnected. Our peer-to-peer sync engine keeps devices in sync and data accurate, whether in a stadium, on an airplane, or at a remote military site. With over $145 million in funding, Ditto is trusted by organizations like Chick-fil-A, Delta Airlines, and the U. S. military. Our technology supports critical operations in aviation, retail, travel, hospitality, and defense. As a growing startup with a global team, Ditto values diversity and inclusion to solve complex connectivity problems worldwide.
Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineering
This role is remote and open to candidates in Atlanta, Austin, San Francisco, or Seattle.
Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) at Ditto work directly with major customers to implement our technology in the field. FDEs help users solve complex, real-world problems by integrating Ditto’s software into their operational environments. This hands-on work accelerates how quickly customers see value from our products.
FDEs also act as a bridge between users and Ditto’s product engineering team, sharing technical feedback and feature requests based on firsthand experience. The role suits engineers who enjoy tackling tough problems, adapting quickly, and staying calm under pressure.
What You Will Do
- Integrate with Military Avionics Data Buses: Lead on-site integration of Ditto’s solutions with airborne and ground platforms by building data ingestion and translation layers for MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 avionics buses.
- Implement Tactical Datalink Interfaces: Design and deploy software interfaces to interpret, convert, and manage messages from tactical datalinks, including Link 16 and Situational Awareness Data Link (SADL), supporting reliable machine-to-machine communication in demanding settings.
- Enable Cursor-on-Target (CoT) Data Flows: Build and maintain CoT event pipelines that move platform sensor data into the C5ISR ecosystem, ensuring timely and relevant data delivery.
- Real-Time Problem Solving: Serve as the main technical support in the field, quickly diagnosing and resolving software, protocol, and integration issues as they arise.
