We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our Ground & Control team, responsible for developing the autonomous software that governs and monitors BlackSky’s satellite constellation. This role encompasses high-speed tasking, ground and space telemetry, health monitoring, and low-latency communication with ground stations worldwide. You will create software that connects hardware-level interfaces with cloud-deployed microservices, contributing to mission-critical systems that ensure our satellites are safe, responsive, and operational 24/7 with minimal human oversight.

Success in this role requires a strong sense of initiative, a passion for understanding complex systems, and the ability to trace and validate requirements while constructively challenging them when necessary. You recognize the significance of safety, precision, and testability, especially in autonomous systems where minor errors can lead to significant consequences. Comfortable with modern software development practices, you can navigate both low-level and cloud-based technologies. Above all, you excel in collaborative environments, communicate effectively, and contribute humbly and focused towards a shared mission. While we prefer candidates near our Seattle, WA office, we are open to considering remote applicants in select states.
