About the job

Pivotal Health seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Systems Integration team in Santa Monica, CA. This role centers on backend development, supporting the core infrastructure that manages financial transactions across the platform. The team is small and newly established, which means engineers have a real say in technical direction and the opportunity to work on new projects from the ground up. Independent thinking, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset are valued here.

What you will do

  • Backend integrations: Design, build, and maintain connections with third-party systems, including ERP accounting tools and Salesforce. These integrations are essential for financial operations and client billing. Engineers take full ownership of their features, ensuring production-ready code.
  • Financial logic: Develop precise calculations and business rules to manage the flow of funds. Responsibilities include handling client payments, IDR system transactions, provider reimbursements, and refunds. Accuracy and reliability are key.
  • Architectural input: Participate in architecture discussions, propose new solutions, and help refine the system. Team members are encouraged to share ideas and challenge current methods.
  • Initiative in a small team: With only two or three engineers on the project, each person is expected to identify issues, take action, and help move the project forward without waiting for direction.
