Your Responsibilities:Collaborate closely with machine learning engineers and infrastructure teams to design, strategize, and implement a multi-stage training system that develops foundational and onboard models. Optimize end-to-end training latency to align with our release schedule while reducing the time taken to address new issues in the field and update models accordingly. Address large-scale training challenges involving multi-models, multi-tasks, and extensive datasets drawn from millions of miles of driving data. Provide technical leadership on the effectiveness and efficiency of our critical production model training systems. Facilitate and expedite collaborations between the Perception team, infrastructure teams at Waymo, and partners within Alphabet. Your Qualifications:Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.8+ years of hands-on experience in software development focused on machine learning.6+ years of experience with ML-driven production systems encompassing model development with large-scale data, training, evaluation, and deployment.4+ years in a technical leadership role, guiding teams and establishing technical direction.3+ years of experience in computer vision models, LLMs, or vision-language models. A strong commitment to engineering excellence and efficient model development through innovative practices.

In this hybrid role, you will report directly to the Director of Engineering.
